Hong Kong is so beautiful!!! Before coming to the island, I probably should have done some more research because I really did not know how gorgeous the Hong Kong landscape it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there was much more than the high-rise buildings and city that I had expected.
View of Hong Kong from The Peak
On my first day in HK, Joanne (a friend from Cornell) picked me up from the train station and gave me a quick driving tour of the city and up the peak. We had dinner with her family (who are such nice people!) and began planning what I should see and do for the next 10 days.
My second day, I rode the Peak Tram to the top of Victoria Peak, which has beautiful views of the city (both Hong Kong and Kowloon) and of the south side of Hong Kong Island.
The tram starts in the Central district of Hong Kong and takes you all the way to the top of the peak where there is a huge pavilion with viewing terrace, shopping, restaurants and a few nature walks.
To the left is a picture from on the tram, trying to show how steep the incline is. While the ride was smooth, I was partially terrified because there were multiple stops along the way. Who was getting off in the middle of the mountain? I have no idea.
