AH! Black Rain

Today was the day of shopping! Although, I don't think I really bought much of anything. I went to a lot of different street markets (filled with clothes, shoes, accessories, electronics, food, drinks, basically anything you could want or need), walked down Hollywood Rd., saw the world's largest escalator (Mid-Levels Escalator that runs through the Central district of Hong Kong) and ended the day by going to Man Mo Temple (and meeting Joanne for dindin).

All of these things were done during varying amounts of rain...some mist, some drizzle, some downpours, oh yeah and the BLACK RAIN! Apparently "black rain" means go to a safe place and stay indoors, do not walk around outside trying to get to things. Unfortunately I only found out the meaning after deciding "I'll dry off" and trapezing around all of Hong Kong. No worries, I did dry off and had lots of fun in spite of the bad weather.

Li Yuen Streets East and West

I still cannot get over the sheer quantity of stuff

More Li Yuen Streets East and West

Some of the markets are located on the old streets that still have stone steps

You can literally find a booth for everything...even costumes in July

Some serious street steps

I thought Tiffy would enjoy this store

G.O.D. - I LOVE this place
(one of Joanne's best recommendations)

It's a little hard to see...but on the left is the longest escalator in the world

Lots of chinese decorations!

Bamboo scaffolding...impressive but scary

BLACK RAIN!

Immediately after deciding not to buy an expensive raincoat, I stepped outside and the typhoon rain hits. Magical. I tried to wait it out, but there was no use. I decided to continue on my trek anyways...swollen foot and all

Man Mo Temple

I love the drainage system...
the water is routed into the building and runs under all of burning incense.

Incense

Lots of incense

Incense with notes on them

Can you read what that says?

And one last photo of the incense...for good measure

When I came out, a filming crew was on their way in

Admiring the cute streets as I waited for the bus

I love the colors in this picture
